What happens to your Word document
Word’s heading styles (Heading 1, Heading 2) are the cleanest chapter markers of any format, so a DOCX with proper headings gets a clean chapter list. Body paragraphs are narrated in order; page headers, footers and comments are not part of the narration.
Legacy .doc and .rtf files are accepted too. A .doc file is read as plain text, so give it clear chapter titles on their own lines.
Where Word documents usually trip up text-to-speech

Manual chapter titles (bold text instead of a Heading style) are still detected when they read like a chapter heading (“Chapter 4”, “Part Two”, “Epilogue”).

Tables are read cell by cell; long data tables are better skimmed on screen.

Text in floating boxes and shapes may be narrated out of order; keep the manuscript in the main flow.

Your files, your rights
Upload files you own or have the right to use, up to 5 MB, without DRM. Books stay in your private library until you delete them; deleting your account removes them. Book2Speech does not resell, publish or train voices on your uploads.

Will it read my comments and tracked changes?
Comments are not narrated. Accept or reject tracked changes before uploading so the narrator reads the version you intend.
I am an author. Can I proof my draft by ear?
Yes, that is one of the most common uses. Hearing a draft exposes repeated words and clumsy dialogue faster than rereading. See the page for authors.
Does it work with Google Docs?
Export the document as .docx (File → Download → Microsoft Word) and drop that file.
