How Occitan is written
Occitan is spoken in southern France, the Val d’Aran in Spain and Alpine valleys of Italy. Books in Occitan use the Latin alphabet.
Occitan, the language of the troubadours, is written mainly in the classical spelling, which covers dialects such as Provençal, Languedocien and Gascon; Provençal also has its own Mistralian spelling.
